1-What did you eat for breakfast today?
A knock-off cheerio cereal with almond/coconut milk blend and a chai tea, I am a Californian after all.
2-Last time you cried?
Really cried? I mean, Tuesday I teared up but nothing came out, it was over the thought of turning 30...but cried cried, I don't know...I'd have to really think about it.
3-Something you’re proud of.
This is stupidly cheesy- but I'm proud to be the daughter of both of my parents, they are both so accomplished and have followed their thoughts of what will make the world a better place. I can only hope I live up to that as well.
STH: Any idea how you're gonna live up to that?
CWD: Not a clue. I mean, I am sure my parents didn't think about every little action they did as an overall grand plan. I guess I try to replicate what I see them do as little "good" deeds like cooking dinner for a sick neighbor or brining in the trash cans for an elderly neighbor.
Watching them, I see that money isn't everything- so I try to do my part, I guess which is why I buy Gatorade for the soccer team. It's my good deed to pay it forward since I can afford $20 worth of Gatorade per season. But it’s not like I am going to get anyone off death row, like my mom was able to [as a public defender].
I think thats why I struggle working in TV so much though. I don't see it bettering society in anyway.
Oh, also, not to brag, but another way I try to help is I made a vow to support a kid through the charity Children's International every time I get a raise over $5,000- so I only have 2 kids at the moment but maybe someday I can change those kids lives.
One is in Mexico and one is in India. It's like $35 a month per kid and then extra $30 every Easter, Christmas, back to school, etc... I get pictures and letters from them.
At the end of the day- it's really not that much money, you know?
Not to get super deep, but don't you ever wonder why you were fortunate to be born when and where you did vs. like in any other time or place. I think about it all the time, like how did all those men in the founding fathers happen to be born at the same time- and meet? They were all more than just politicians - they we also inventors and great philosophers . I don't know- I often think its fate. Fate doesn't control everything but it gives you opportunities and if you take them great things can happen.
Maybe it's like finding love, but more in a humanity sense: there is someone out there whose purpose is to make you your best self. Like Edison and Telsa- worked together and competed to make electricity a real thing. But if one hadn't met the other, would electricity have been developed as fast as it could have?
And maybe the other purpose isn't always for good- like maybe Hitler's purpose was to make Churchill a better man. Churchill had his flaws but WorldWarII also brought out his strengths.
4-Mac or PC?
Both, I don't prefer one over the other surprisingly enough; each has things I like.
5-What is something you whole-heartedly believe?
I believe that there is a lot about history and the universe we don't know and I think its stupid when people dismiss theories.
I also guess I really don't believe that God (whatever you believe his form is) is angry or mean- I think there is a hell but I don't know why he would send you there- you might have to do a lot of penance or live through multiple lives to get to heaven but I don't think he would make you suffer through eternity. That seems stupid to me that he would create something to simply destroy it. I would like to think he's above that. Not saying Hitler's in heaven yet - he might have been reincarnated and need to work his way up from being an ant.
6-Have you ever experienced discrimination?
Yeah, I used to get age discriminated against all the time at work.
When I first started people would speak over me when I was in the room to my male boss. He always had my back and would say, "Well she said we have to do this..." or "She has this blocked this way."
7-Would you ever date someone of a different religion?
That's a tricky one,, the Catholic boys I have dated have been more conservative than me which I find disturbing, but I would want someone who shares my faith. I guess they don't need to be Catholic, but I don't want someone who dismisses religion as stupid, or doesn't believe in anything at all.
I think Catholicism is as much as a religion as a culture so I guess I would want to ideally share my culture with someone, but I don't need someone who is spitting out fire and brimstone.
I am hoping this new pope can bring back to the church some "cool" Catholics like me, ha ha.
8-Describe yourself in 5 words, don’t be modest.
loud, dramatic, fact-lover, loyal, Catholic
